The Coatesville bridge

A private creek crossing, built in 2022, destroyed by a storm a year later, and rebuilt stronger.

The brief

Build a private bridge across the creek running through the back of the property. The creek was one metre wide and gentle. The bridge needed to look at home in the bush, and last a long time.

The job that came back

In early 2023, the Anniversary Day storm tore the bridge out - along with a large stretch of the property and a road bridge further up. The creek had grown from one metre wide to five.

What I built

A complete redesign, sized for the new creek and the weather we now know to expect. Retaining work to hold the bank against further erosion, and a new walkway integrated across the wider site.

The result

The bridge has held through every storm since. The clients tell me the bridge and walkway are now their favourite space on the property.
